Ministries: Prayer Opportunities "Pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God's peace-His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest." Prayer is an invitation to have a personal friendship with our loving God! The miracle of this friendship with God is that it helps us grow in freedom, peace, joy, healing and wholeness. St. Charles recognizes several prayer forms and offers the following private and group opportunities for prayer:
24-Hour Chapel: Our chapel is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for prayer or a quiet place to be alone with God. Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration - Held on the first Saturday of each month in the Chapel, it follows the 9:00 AM Mass and continues until Benediction at 4:30 PM. A visit to the Blessed Sacrament is an expression of gratitude and love toward Christ, our Lord. Visits are scheduled in 30-minute increments or you may drop in at any time. Lectio - A contemplative praying of the Scriptures, which enables the Bible to become a means of union with God. Lectio is a process of reading, listening, meditation and prayer. Join the weekend's Lectors on Mondays in the Chapel at 7:00 PM. Meditation - This is a daily practice of focused prayer. A group meets at 7:00 PM on Monday evenings to meditate together for 20 minutes in silence in the Keeley Center St. Ignatius Room. Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help - A Novena is a prayer which continues for nine days or once a week for nine weeks and which honors the Blessed Mother and asks her to intercede to Jesus, her son. The Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is held in the Chapel every Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Silent Prayer - A form of contemplative prayer providing a setting to be alone with God (even though others are present) and move toward intimacy with Him. Silent Prayer is held on Monday evenings in the St. Ignatius Room of the Keeley Center starting at 5:30 PM. Prayer begins with a short reading and continues in quiet solitude. |
