Parish Services

PARISH STAFF:
Members of our dedicated and hospitable parish staff are available from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday . If you have questions or need assistance regarding registration, sacraments, ministries, events, schedules or use of the Keeley Center, do not hesitate to call the rectory office at 447-4549.

PASTORAL CARE:
The priests and deacon are available, by appointment, to visit those who are ill, homebound or hospitalized. It is their privilege to be of service to parishioners in times of need. You may also schedule an appointment for spiritual direction, inquiry or counseling by calling the rectory at 447-4549.

BOOK OF INTERCESSIONS:
A book of prayers and special intentions is located in the vestibule of the church on a writing stand mounted on a wall of the reconciliation room. Parishioners are encouraged to enter their prayer requests so that they can be acknowledged during the Prayers of the Faithful at weekend liturgies.

MASS INTENTIONS:
Masses for the deceased and for other special intentions may be scheduled based on available dates for weekdays (excluding Wednesday Communion Services) and some Sundays by contacting the parish secretary in the rectory. The suggested offering for each Mass intention is $10.00

PARISH LIBRARY:
A parish library is located in the Faith Formation offices in the Keeley Center. Available for check out are videos and books with topics including the church, the saints, self-help, family issues, theology, spirituality and prayer.

NAMETAGS:
In order to call everyone by name, all parishioners will be provided with nametags to be worn at mass and other parish events. New parishioners will be given nametags in a welcoming packet. Parishioners may request new or replacement nametags from hospitality ministers after mass.

NEW PARISHIONER REGISTRATION:
Individuals and families who would like to become members of St. Charles are asked to complete a parish registration form, which is available at the rectory office or available from hospitality ministers after mass. Registered parishioners are entered into our parish data base and receive monthly mailings, tithing envelopes and an annual giving statement. Families must be registered before enrolling in faith formation and sacramental preparation programs.

WEEKLY BULLETIN:
A bulletin is published weekly and distributed after Masses. It includes a pastor’s letter; notations for the current week’s Mass and prayer intentions, Sunday Scripture readings and parish calendar; plate collection and stewardship reports; and various timely reminders about retreats, parish and diocesan events.

CHILDREN’S BULLETIN:
Special weekly bulletins for children are available at all weekend Masses from a hospitality minister. These bulletins have faith based activities, games and stories for children in grades K through 5th.

DIOCESAN NEWSPAPER:
The Diocese of Oakland publishes a semi-monthly newspaper, The Catholic Voice. There are local, regional and national articles, including a diocesan calendar of events and news and notes about the parishes in the diocese. Registered parishioners are included on the mailing list. Annually in October, the parish solicits a $20 donation to offset the parish’s monthly diocesan newspaper assessment.

PARISH DIRECTORY:
Pictorial directories are published every few years and made available to families who had pictures taken.

MONTHLY AND SPECIAL MAILINGS:
A monthly calendar of events and a giving envelope are mailed to parishioners each month. Mailings may also include financial statements, pastoral letters, faith formation and social events flyers. Notify the parish secretary in the rectory office if you are not receiving this important information.

PLATE COLLECTION ENVELOPES:
Once a month, an envelope is mailed to your home for your convenience. These envelopes have been especially designed so that you may designate your giving to various needs, including regular plate, special collections, the building campaign or for a special donation. Envelopes are also available in the vestibule on the hospitality table or from the rectory. Separate Easter and Christmas envelopes are also mailed. We ask that you include your name and giving amounts each time you use an envelope so that your contributions can be recorded properly.

ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION STATEMENT:
A complete annual statement listing all regular and special contributions for each calendar year is mailed to parishioners sometime in January.

CHILD CARE ~ GENERAL:
In addition to the Sunday morning co-op, Little Lambs of the Liturgy, childcare is sometimes offered during certain gatherings, sessions or activities. Parents will be notified in the event flyer if childcare is available.

Wired earphones are available for use during Mass for those with a hearing impairment. Check before Mass with the sound technician located in the church near the left side of the altar to obtain the headsets.
